The new Skype for Windows version 5.8 has been released, along with it are a few interesting new features, these include full HD video-calling, group screen sharing and Facebook integration.
Video calling for Facebook will work even if users do not use Skype. To start a video call with a Facebook buddy, select the person in your list and click “video call.”
Full HD video calls will be best for people who own a HD webcam, for example Microsoft LifeCam Studio Full HD 1080P with it’s built in microphone High-Fidelity Microphone, automatic face tracking and automatic low light adjustment.
Last but definitely not least, group screen sharing, available only with Skype Premium (£2.50/month), gives users the opportunity to share your screen or an application window with other members of a conference call. To use this, choose the + menu during a call and select “share my screen.”
Other useful new features include a push to talk button, the facility to hide offline Facebook contacts and Bing Toolbar integration.
Besides these brilliant improvements, the newest version fixes several bugs. You can download it here.
