BigCommerce, the world’s fastest growing e-commerce platform with 20,000 clients has opened up its platform to global developers via its new RESTful API.
The API allows third party developers complete access to the BigCommerce platform by making orders, products, customers, photos, etc available for both retrieving and updating programatically.
Eddie Machaalani, co-Founder of BigCommerce, said it was another big step towards the Australian company creating the world’s first true e-commerce platform:
“BigCommerce is already the easiest to use and fastest growing e-commerce platform in the world. From our headquarters in Surry Hills we’ve been able to power over 20,000 online retailers globally.
“Opening up our platform with our new API will further enable developers to build powerful order fulfillment, shipping, customer management, inventory management, accounting, marketing and analytics tools that plug straight in to any BigCommerce store.”
Mitch Harper, co-Founder of BigCommerce, added:
“There is no one-size-fits-all solution for e-commerce. We realized this a long time ago and our new API really puts BigCommerce in the middle as the platform, allowing unlimited integration possibilities for third party developers.”
“We already have integrations with over 110 partners, however these were built in-house. Our new API will allow tens of thousands of integrations to be built without our help, this increasing the speed of innovation around e-commerce which ultimately helps our clients make more money and streamline their business processes”
Dane Atkinson, CEO of Sum(All) added; “Working with the BigCommerce API has been incredibly easy to integrate with our new ecommerce analytics / decision engine. We already have beta customers signed up and we feel the potential to tap into the BigCommerce eco-system will have a direct impact on increasing sales for BigCommerce customers as well as helping us expand our reach. We chose BigCommerce as a critical partner due the power of their new API and their massive and highly sophisticated customers base.”
JB Kellog, Co-Founder of Madwire Media, said “As one of the larger eCommerce web design & internet marketing companies in the country, having a strong e-commerce platform to rely on is a must. Being a BigCommerce development partner has helped not only us, but our clients grow their businesses substantially. The backend marketing tools build into BigCommerce and the design customization freedom and API capabilities make it stand above the rest. In the past, we worked with several different platforms, but now we exclusively work with BigCommerce because it’s the best.”
BigCommerce already integrates with Facebook to allow its clients to sell products through the fast-growing social network, as well as eBay, Shopzilla, Quickbooks, Google Analytics and Website Optimizer, LivePerson, Shipwire, iContact, Mailchimp and dozens of others.
