New To Google Plus, Control Your Notifications

You spoke and Google listened!

Many Google + users have been disappointed by the sheer number of notifications they have been receiving from the internet giant, every time someone sends them messages from games, mentions their Google + name or one of countless other frivolous interactions.

As a result Google has now added a new feature that enables users to control who can send them notifications to limit the number of unwanted emails.

This new setting, set to “extended circles”, meaning that users may still get notifications from unknown parties, will control who users will recieve notifications from, if they :

• Share with you individually
• Select ‘Notify about this post’ (when sharing to a circle you’re in)
• Mention your name
• Invite you to a hangout
• Invite you to play or send you messages from a game

It does not stop users from recieving notifications when other users post on their walls or adds them to a circle.

Even though “Who can notify you” is set to extended circles by default, this can be changed in the settings section to apply to your cirles, anyone or any selection of circles and individuals.

This feature is just being added now so if the option does not yet appear on your Google + account don’t worry, it will be there soon.
